The conversion/transfer of property from lease hold to free hold means the transfer of ownership from government to concerned person in accordance with the policies and regulations formulated by the Government of India. Certain government authorities such as DDA (Delhi Development Authority) and others earlier used to allot the properties to individuals on leasehold basis, which means the individual used to have only possession of the property but not the ownership, the ownership vested with the relevant government authority who allotted it. But, now the government started conversion of these properties from leasehold to freehold, where a person can enjoy complete rights of the properties and become the owner of that property. Freehold means acquiring ownership of the property.
The benefits of conversion of property from lease to freehold are:
1) Immediate transfer of title and absolute ownership of property
2) Buyer is free to resale the property, no more restrictions regarding resale or any other by the government authorities
