RTI Act, 2005 was enacted by the Parliament of India, to provide secure access of information to the general public which is under the control of public authorities. Right to information is a part of the fundamental right under Article 19(1)(g) of the constitution which deals with freedom of speech and expression. The primary objective of this Act is to promote transparency and responsibility in the working of every public authority or government officials.
There is one RTI officer in every public department; RTI application can be filed with such officer. The application can be written either in English or Hindi language.
